VAT IT develops and maintains the software we use to run our business process.
Our applications are known as the “Dragon Ecosystem” and include:

  • SQL and POSTGRESQL databases
  • Various applications which interact with the database and each other
  • Self-hosted as well as cloud infrastructure

VAT IT is looking for a systems analyst/development manager to own the responsibility for ongoing development, maintenance and improvement of our software ecosystem

Job description

  • You will interact with the business stakeholders, application users and subject matter experts to understand their problems and development needs
  • You will gather, document and analyse business needs and propose system solutions
  • You will be responsible for the design, build and implementation of improvements and additional features for the existing systems as well as entirely new applications if required
  • Your main goal will be to enable and improve the efficiency of business processes
  • You will  explain requirements to developers and manage the development process including priorities, quality and timelines
  • You will make strategic decisions for the design of features and prioritise the development of certain features over others in consultation with business users and stakeholder
  • You will be required to investigate exceptions and system errors
  • You will be responsible for ensuring the developers are adequately testing their solutions and you will work with the testing team to ensure system quality and reliability
  • Together with the test team you will perform regression testing (understanding the impact a new feature has in other departments/areas)
  • You will need to learn and understand our databse structure and where to find specific information
  • You will have access to tools like JIRA, Kibana, Test Rail etc to investigate and design system solutions

  • SQL –beginner
  • Understand and able to read/interpret software code (there will not be a need to actually write code yourself)
