Le imprese che soddisfano la soglia devono registrarsi, mentre quelle al di sotto di essa possono aderire volontariamente ai sensi della legge olandese sull'IVA.
I Paesi Bassi seguono le norme IVA ESS dell'UE. Le aziende che forniscono servizi digitali (ad esempio, hosting di siti web, software, media digitali) devono applicare l'aliquota IVA in base alla posizione del consumatore, spesso utilizzando il sistema OSS per i servizi transfrontalieri.
La maggior parte delle spese aziendali è generalmente rimborsabile nell'ambito del rimborso dell'IVA nei Paesi Bassi, ad eccezione delle seguenti spese non rimborsabili: cibo, bevande e servizi di ristorazione, spese di rappresentanza e noleggio di veicoli per un periodo superiore a 30 giorni. Va inoltre notato che le spese relative ai veicoli (ad eccezione del carburante) sono in genere rimborsabili solo per l'84%, a meno che il richiedente non possa dimostrare che il veicolo è stato utilizzato esclusivamente per scopi aziendali.
Per il rimborso dell'IVA nei Paesi Bassi non sono richieste copie originali, ma è possibile presentare fotocopie.
I rimborsi trimestrali dell'IVA nei Paesi Bassi ai sensi dell'ottava direttiva e della tredicesima direttiva devono superare i 400,00 EUR. I rimborsi annuali dell'IVA nei Paesi Bassi ai sensi dell'ottava direttiva e della tredicesima direttiva devono superare i 50,00 EUR.
