Kroatië past btw toe op digitale diensten op basis van de locatie van de consument, waarbij over het algemeen gebruik wordt gemaakt van het OSS-systeem voor grensoverschrijdende diensten binnen de EU.
Bedrijven die deelnemen aan handelsbeurzen kunnen in Kroatië btw verschuldigd zijn over uitgaven zoals accommodatie, vervoer en beursgelden. Om deze kosten terug te vorderen, moeten zij ervoor zorgen dat zij beschikken over geldige facturen waarop het Kroatische btw-nummer van de leverancier staat vermeld en een aanvraag indienen via het Kroatische btw-teruggaafmechanisme overeenkomstig de toepasselijke richtlijn.
Kroatische bedrijven kunnen buitenlandse btw die in de EU is betaald, terugvorderen via de btw-teruggaafprocedure van de 8e EU-richtlijn en uit bepaalde niet-EU-landen via buitenlandse btw-teruggaafmechanismen. Bedrijven buiten Kroatië kunnen mogelijk ook btw die in Kroatië is betaald, terugvorderen via de 8e of 13e richtlijn. Een Kroatisch btw-nummer is niet vereist voor buitenlandse btw-claims, maar geldige documentatie en naleving van de Kroatische btw-regels zijn essentieel.
Binnenlandse bedrijven vragen de btw terug via hun PDV-aangifte (Obrazac PDV).
Buitenlandse bedrijven moeten een elektronische aanvraag indienen via hun eigen belastingdienst (EU) of rechtstreeks bij de Kroatische belastingdienst (niet-EU).
