Canada past GST toe op digitale diensten op basis van de locatie van de consument, waarbij registratie en naleving van federale en provinciale belastingtarieven vereist zijn.
In aanmerking komende uitgaven voor een Canadese GST-teruggave zijn doorgaans accommodatie, maaltijden, lokaal vervoer, deelname aan beurzen en conferentiekosten (op voorwaarde dat het bedrijf sponsor, organisator of exposant is). Het terug te vorderen bedrag is afhankelijk van het geldende Canadese GST-tarief en specifieke branchevoorschriften. Er zijn mogelijke teruggaafmogelijkheden wanneer GST ten onrechte in rekening is gebracht.
De verwerkingstijd voor terugbetalingen varieert, maar bedrijven die een GST-belastingteruggave aanvragen in Canada kunnen rekenen op een verwerkingstijd van enkele maanden tot een jaar, afhankelijk van de complexiteit van de aanvraag en de nauwkeurigheid van de ingediende gegevens.
De belastingdienst vereist originele btw-facturen. Om een succesvolle teruggaafaanvraag te kunnen indienen, is het essentieel dat u voldoet aan het Canadese GST-tarief en de factuurvereisten.
