Deze gids biedt een overzicht van de btw in Litouwen, inclusief de geldende tarieven, registratievereisten, nalevingsverplichtingen en indieningstermijnen. Hij is bedoeld voor bedrijven die transacties uitvoeren binnen Litouwen.
Litouwen heeft de btw op verwarming en nutsvoorzieningen verlaagd om de druk op de kosten van levensonderhoud in de winter te verlichten.
Buitenlandse bedrijven die btw betalen over in aanmerking komende uitgaven in Litouwen, kunnen deze mogelijk terugvorderen.

Bedrijven die de drempel overschrijden, zijn verplicht zich te registreren, terwijl bedrijven die onder de drempel blijven, zich vrijwillig kunnen aanmelden.
Litouwen past btw toe op digitale diensten op basis van de locatie van de consument, waarbij het OSS-systeem voor grensoverschrijdende diensten binnen de EU wordt gebruikt.
De btw in Litouwen op de volgende uitgaven kan over het algemeen worden teruggevorderd in een buitenlandse btw-teruggave: brandstof; kosten voor openbaar vervoer; accommodatie; eten, drinken en restaurantdiensten; toegang tot beurzen en tentoonstellingen; entertainment en andere algemene zakelijke uitgaven (bijv. kantoorkosten, marketingkosten enz.).
Bedrijven die btw terugvragen in Litouwen kunnen rekenen op een termijn van enkele maanden tot een jaar, afhankelijk van de complexiteit van de aanvraag en de nauwkeurigheid van de indiening. Aanvragen voor teruggaaf van btw in Litouwen kunnen per kwartaal of per jaar worden ingediend. Indien een aanvrager dat wenst, kan hij de status van de aanvraag opvragen bij de Litouwse btw-autoriteit.
Als de btw in Litouwen onjuist in rekening is gebracht op een factuur, komt de factuur over het algemeen niet in aanmerking voor een teruggaafverzoek voor btw in Litouwen. De entiteit moet contact opnemen met de leverancier om de onjuist in rekening gebrachte btw in Litouwen terug te krijgen. VAT IT hierbij helpen.
